What is Reflexology: What to expect?

It can be daunting to try something you’ve never done before - to know the ins and outs of the service. Here’s a run down of what to expect at The Interior Me.

When you arrive…

To start with we will go through your medical history together, looking at past & present conditions. This helps me to build up a picture of your lifestyle and how I can tailor your treatment to your specific needs. It’s all done in an informal way & also including a soak in a relaxing foot bath if you wish. All information is confidential & kept on record to refer back to on your return visit. I allow an extra 20 minutes for a first visit to go through this with you at no extra charge.

Holistic medicine is treating the person as a whole & looking for the root causes and not just at the symptoms. So this is why we take time to ask as many questions as possible as there may be symptoms that link together.

I will explain how reflexology works & answer any questions you may have.

Foot readings

This is a very interesting part of the treatment. It is sometimes knows as Solestry. It involves looking at irregularities on the foot which may indicate physical and emotional imbalances. For example calluses under the first joint of the big toe will indicate stiffness in the neck area! It is amazing how accurate these markers can be. It also means that no matter how many visits for a pedicure you make, the problem won’t resolve until that part of the body if realigned. It’s a big Ah-ha moment for so many people. I did my training under Sam Belyea Author of the book, Foot Reading, on one his visits to the UK from the States. You can book appointment with him online. He’s a wizard. But don’t get foot reading confused with any future telling. This is about reading what is happening in your body right now.

When the treatment starts

You will lay on a comfortable reclining chair with a blanket covering you. Firstly I will perform a gentle massage on both feet to relax you & your feet & let you get used to my touch. Then I will start the reflexology. You will be able to tell the difference between a simple massage and the reflexology which focuses on specific reflex points on the sole of the foot. The treatment concludes with some breathing regulation techniques..If you are still awake!!

You then float home.

Does reflexology hurt?

It should not hurt, however if you have any imbalances you may feel some slight discomfort on specific reflex points. Tell your therapist when it hurts so they can lighten the pressure on that point and explain what pint this is.

What should I wear for my treatment?

Always wear something comfortable & ideally something loose up to the knee & some socks to soak up all the lovely natural balms. Other than there isn’t much else you need to remember or bring. Just zone out.
